Over years of performing these songs live, they inevitably ended up living side-by-side in my set lists. As I would share with audiences about how these songs came to be, eventually it dawned on me that there was a common thread pointing them back to the same origin.  Each of these songs, it ends up, though written at different times, were inspired by stories that I had heard on public radio.  Each narrative that I had created was in a sense a re-envisioning, a continuation, 

or retelling of a story that had already been told.  This common narrative quality and point of origin seemed to naturally bind these songs together.  Thus The Retelling was born.
